Willow & Green’s attitude towards the environment

At Willow and Green we aim to have a better understanding of the impact our business processes and services have on the environment than most funeral service providers. This understanding stems from our deliberate endeavours to educate ourselves and learn from the market leaders like “Green Globe Awards”, the Green Funeral Director association as well as initiatives by KCC and Ashford Borough Council.

It is more than an environmental policy, it is a way of life. Christine, Elle and Pieter are constantly striving towards carbon neutrality. However, our main objective is to help our families celebrate the lives of their loved ones. We do a lot of industry education to help families and suppliers recognise their impact their actions have on the environment. Offering our families environmentally friendly alternatives comes with no obligation.

Where we can not convince local suppliers to offer environmentally friendly alternatives we try to create alternatives ourselves. We have helped our training provider ART develop apprenticeships that include “green” funeral practice training. We have also been lobbying for the past seven years to introduce Water Cremation (Alkaline Hydrolysis) as an environmentally friendly alternative to flame cremation. We are also working with Community Wood Recycling CIC and the MOJ to produce solid wood coffins for families in Kent at an affordable price.

This is also a big shout out to our environmental allies in Ashford and Kent. Eco-Coffins in Sittingbourne, Kent Natural Burials, Water Cremation LTD, the environmental team at ABC and the list goes on.

Lets celebrate the lives of our loved ones with environmental mindfulness!
